Fellow/Resident

The Sinclair Cancer Research Institute (SCRI) at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada and Common Sense Oncology invite applications for a one-year Cancer Health Services Research Fellowship with an expected start date of July 1, 2027. This fellowship will provide hands-on training in health services research and cancer policy, as well as an opportunity to perform clinical work in medical oncology at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, one of Canada’s leading research and teaching hospitals.

Fellowship training will be consistent with the core principles of Common Sense Oncology (CSO), a global network of oncologists, researchers, patient advocates, and other cancer care stakeholders who are dedicated to advancing high quality, compassionate, and innovative cancer care that is focused on the outcomes the matter to patients and health systems. CSO works collaboratively with people who have lived experience, as well as organizations and regulators in the cancer field, to ensure that patient needs and outcomes are at the centre of cancer research, cancer care delivery, and cancer systems policy.

The fellow will have the opportunity to work in diverse areas including drug policy, global oncology, health quality, health services research, and knowledge mobilization as well as the opportunity to lead peer-reviewed publications, policy papers, and present at international research conferences. The fellow will be based at Queen’s University in the Division of Cancer Care and Epidemiology within SCRI, and will also work with leaders of the Common Sense Oncology initiative from around the world.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be approaching completion of their training in clinical or medical oncology, or have completed their training within the last five years. They must also demonstrate interest in the principles of Common Sense Oncology and its areas of focus, including but not limited to: clinical trial design, patient-centered outcomes, value of care, health equity, global oncology, and shared decision-making.
