MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST – Oakville, Ontario

 

The Department of Medicine at Halton Healthcare is accepting applications for a full-time Medical Oncology 1.0 AFP position at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH).

 

The Cancer Program at Halton Healthcare is located at OTMH which is a state-of-the-art, 1.6 million sq. ft. full-service acute care community hospital located in Oakville, Ontario (30 minutes west of Toronto or 20 minutes east of Hamilton). Over the last several years we have expanded the scope and volume of services provided by our cancer clinic with an enhanced medical oncology presence. This position will join our three medical oncologists and three malignant hematologists.

 

Our medical oncologists provide care for a variety of disease sites including Breast, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, and Thoracic. There is also the expectation of providing inpatient oncology consultation and after-hours secondary call support to our Internal Medicine physicians. Occasional participation in the Internal Medicine call schedule will be required with access to a pool of locums.

 

The successful candidate will promote and exemplify excellence in professional practice and conduct, must have an independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), be certified in Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC), and have or be eligible for subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology.

 

Halton Healthcare is affiliated with McMaster University and offers teaching opportunities. The successful candidates will also be closely aligned with the Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program and will be expected to participate in regional Multidisciplinary Case Conferences and regional quality improvement initiatives. Experience with, or an interest in, Oncology Clinical Trials is an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team-based and inter-professional care are essential.
