We support a collaborative network of researchers, physicians, scientists, and statisticians internationally recognized for finding the treatments that give people with cancer longer, better quality lives.

The Canadian Cancer Trials Group at Queen’s University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with a specialization that falls within oncology. We are seeking an outstanding and visionary cancer trialist for the position of Senior Investigator (SI) with CCTG. Expertise in cancer clinical trial methods and conduct is required. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor may be considered for a tenure-track position. Appointments will be within the Faculty of Health Sciences, within the relevant department(s).

This position is made possible by a transformative $30M investment by Bruce Mitchell (Sc’68, DSc’20) and will enhance the Institute’s dynamic and collaborative research culture by fostering research linkages internally across disciplines and externally among partners. To advance the Chair’s success, the successful candidate will receive direct research support for the first 5 years of their tenure from the Bruce Mitchell Research Program, including resources to support the recruitment of multiple postdoctoral researchers/students. Decreased teaching and administrative responsibilities will be associated with this position to enable the candidate to develop a world-class research program. The preferred starting date is < date>.

The successful candidates will join an internationally recognized group of cancer trial experts. They will participate in scientific and policy decision-making of the CCTG, provide scientific and administrative leadership to the overall scientific strategy of the group, identify new research opportunities, contribute to CCTG / trial activities within an inclusive, diverse, collaborative, and healthy work environment. Senior Investigators are leaders within the scientific committees in their areas of responsibility and mentors/teachers for students and trainees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead, with CCTG Scientific Committee Chairs and Committees the development of research proposals and trials that align with the Committee and CCTG priorities.
• Provide scientific oversight of clinical trials including eligibility, safety, analyses, and publication.
• Contribute to the development of the strategic goals of CCTG, including cancer trials, education, trial methodology and participant engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate or fellowship training in a relevant field, for example, clinical epidemiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical trials, is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
• Experience with clinical trial design, methods, data management, analyses, Canadian and international clinical trial regulations and knowledge and experience with academic sponsored clinical trial partnering within the industry is preferred.
• Meet criteria for appointment to an appropriate Department at Queen’s University.

In addition, the impact of certain circumstances that may legitimately affect a nominee’s record of research achievement will be given careful consideration when assessing the nominee’s research productivity. Candidates are encouraged to provide relevant information about their experience and/or career interruptions.
