Chaired by Dr. Scott Berry and Dr. Maria Jiang, The Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference will summarize the most significant updates and offer solution-focused strategies to enhance GU & GI cancer care and management. The Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference will provide medical oncologists and practicing healthcare professionals with a summary of the most significant treatment advances presented at the ASCO® GU & GI Annual Symposium, with presentations focused on several key disease sites. The conference faculty draws from some of Canada’s most influential oncologists.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss pivotal trials and research presented in the different disease sites.
  2. Review the current standard of care for key malignancies.
  3. Discuss the current controversies in the management of specific GU & GI cancers.

Meet the Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference 2024 Chairs

Dr. Scott Berry
MD, MHSc, FRCPC

Dr. Scott Berry is a medical oncologist and Chief and Medical Director of the Oncology Program at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga. He is the interim regional vice-president for Cancer Care Ontario – Ontario Health’s Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program and an Adjunct Professor of Oncology at Queen’s University. Dr. Berry’s clinical specialty is gastrointestinal cancer.  He is actively involved in clinical research and Co-Chair of the Gastrointestinal Disease Site Group of the Cancer Cancer Ontario Program in Evidence Based Care. Dr. Berry is a medical educator who has previously served as Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Specialty Committee for Medical Oncology.  He is one of the co-founders of OncologyEducation.com.  His other academic interest is the bioethical issues surrounding the care of people with cancer, in particular the ethical issues related to equitable access to cancer medications. He is a former member and ethics advisor to the pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review Expert Review Committee and has served on the ASCO Ethics Committee.

Dr. Maria Jiang

Dr. Maria Jiang,
MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Di (Maria) Jiang is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, and a medical oncologist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center. She received her Medical Oncology Residency training at the University of Toronto and Medical Oncology fellowship training at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center. She recently obtained a Master of Science degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Clinical Epidemiology, thesis stream. She has received multiple grant awards from the Genitourinary Medical Oncologists of Canada. Her interests include targeted therapeutic approaches for genitourinary malignancies and investigator-initiated clinical trials.

By registering to attend Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference 2024, you will be automatically entered to win an Apple Watch. To be eligible, you must be a healthcare professional (sponsors and industry professionals excluded), and in attendance at Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference 2024.

One (1) winner will be drawn at random at 5:30 PM EST on April 10, 2024 at the Best of ASCO® GU & GI Cancers Conference 2024. Winner must be in attendance to claim their prize. The winner will be given 5 minutes to claim their prize at the event before another winner is chosen.

Prize shall be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. The Apple Watch is valued at approximately $589 CAD. Prize has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash. OncologyEducation reserves the right to substitute the Apple Watch with another prize or portion thereof of equal or greater value. Winners must be a natural person and cannot be a business, organization, or a non-living entity. By entering the Contest, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of OncologyEducation, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the giveaway.
