OncologyEducation.com’s Best of ASCO® Conference is a program licensed by the American Society of Clinical Oncology and will be held on Friday July 7th, 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The focus of this event will be to provide medical oncologists and other healthcare practitioners with a summary of the most significant treatment advances presented at the ASCO 2017 Annual Meeting, with presentations focused on several key disease sites. Dr. Sharlene Gill, BSc (Pharm), MD, MPH, FACP, FRCPC
Dr. Sharlene Gill is a medical oncologist at the BC Cancer Agency - Vancouver specializing in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, and a Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She received a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy and an MD (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of British Columbia in 1996 followed by residencies in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. Gill subsequently completed a fellowship in Gl Oncology at the Mayo Clinic and a Master's of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Her areas of expertise are colorectal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively engaged in education and research, with over 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters to her credit. She is currently an MBA Candidate at Kenan-Flagler Business School (University of North Carolina, Class of 2017).
Dr. Scot Dowden, MD, FRCPC
Scot Dowden is a Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Medical Oncology at the University of Calgary. He earned his Medical Degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Medicine. He did his Internal Medicine training in Newfoundland and completed his Medical Oncology training in Calgary. His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of metastatic Gastrointestinal Tumors and Carcinoma of Unknown Primary. He was the Chair of the Southern Alberta Gastrointestinal Tumor Program and is an Executive Member of the Alberta Provincial Gastrointestinal Tumor Program.
