Personalizing the Management of Non Small Cell Lung Cancer: A New Era

The online version of this Continuing Medical Education program on Non Small Cell Lung Cancer Cancer is presented by Dr. Sunil Verma, MD, MSED, FRCPC.  Upon completion of the program, participants will be better able to:

- Utilize the evidence from recent clinical trials to guide their therapeutic strategy for patients with NSCLC

- Review future clinical trials designed to help personalize the treatment of NSCLC

- Individualize the treatment of NSCLC patients by considering tumour-related, molecular and clinical factors in the selection of therapy.

 This program contains 3 modules:

- Module 1 - Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Early Stage Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

- Module 2 - First Line and Maintenance Therapy for Advanced Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

- Module 3 - Second Line Treatment for Advanced  Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

The program was the first available CME on the newly launched OncologyEducation.ca eLearning Portal, which will offer oncology-specific CMEs on a variety of topics.

Program 1- Meeting the challenge: Evolution of the Management of CLL

This educational program entitled "Meeting the challenge: Evolution of the Management of CLL" prepared and presented by Dr. C.-M. Wendtner (Clinic I of Internal Medicine, University of Cologne, Germany) in a taping session on May 10th, 2010, focuses on the challenges of treating chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in the elderly. The presentation reviews the results of phase III CLL-8 trial in patients with CLL treated with rituximab plus fludarabine and cyclophosphamide (RFC) vs. FC alone, examines first-line treatment options in both fit and frail (unfit) patients with CLL, and identifies treatment options based on disease stage.

 

Program 2 - PRIMA

This program is a videotaping of a presentation by Dr Gilles Salles in June of 2010 on the PRIMA Study. The program discusses the results of the PRIMA trial (Primary Rituximab and Maintenance).
